Detecting hidden leaks is multi-step, complex process. With our state-of-the-art equipment, not only are we saving water, but we’re helping property owners save millions of dollars in costly property damage and destruction as well.

Leaks are more common in older properties, but newer properties are not immune to leaks either. Poor construction and other factors, including ground movement, can cause unexpected pipe damage at any time. The longer the problem goes undetected, the more likely it is to cause property damage and make repairs more costly.

Line Locators, Inc uses a combination of equipment to verify leak locations. Depending on the type of leak, we’ll use anything from infrared imaging to amplified listening devices.

Types of leaks:

Line Locators, Inc specializes in locating a variety of leaks.
  • Commercial and residential pools
  • Concrete/Gunnite
  • Vinyl liners
  • Fountain leaks
  • Spas

Our Process

  1. Verify that there is a leak
  2. Isolate the leak
  3. Manipulate the leak
  4. Locate the leaking line
  5. Pinpoint the exact location of the leak

You’ll never be told that we have to come back to the job later because we don’t have the right equipment in our truck. Line Locators comes prepared to every job with the equipment and technology to handle every type of project.

Ultra-sonic listening device

We use an ultra-sonic transmitter is used when the leak sound is ultra-sonic, meaning you can’t hear it with the human ear. This is typically used for above-ground leaks.

Amplified listening device

We use a “ground miking” instrument for listening to water leaks that are typically below-ground - through asphalt, concrete, and dirt. When necessary, we also inject air into the line to create bubbles that can be heard with an amplified listening device.

Helium and Hydrogen detectors

For leaks so small that they can’t be heard with an amplified listening device, or for leaks that are in a noisy environment, we use sensitive, lightweight, hand-held instrument designed to easily and quickly isolate the smallest leaks in a plumbing system pressurized with a gas, such as Helium or Carbon Dioxide, Hydrogen, natural gas or Propane.

"We found the water leak in the location that you identified using your equipment! After digging over an 8 foot hole down to the pipe, we discovered the leak and were amazed with your pin point accuracy. Not to mention that the leak was identified down to the foot in a pipe that is over 500 feet long.

We will definitely call Line Locators again for all of our underground utility and leak location problems.

Thanks again for your speedy response, expertise, and professionalism in helping us with our problem."
